Leather Care Tips

Leather requires special care to maintain it's suppleness and softness, as well as to prevent drying and damage.  Rein & Paddock was created to challenge the status quo for leather care products - our leather care line is a collaboration between 3Rein Media and The Gilded Paddock - and our goal was to provide a leather care system made with 100% Natural ingredients combined with some innovation...

NO: Glycerin, Beeswax, Petroleum, Tallow, Alcohol, Turpentine, Lanolin, Sulfates, Parabens, Synthethics, Artificial Fragrances...

100% Natural and NON-Toxic....and all our leather care products were specially formulated to match the pH of leather in order to prevent deterioration, keeping your valuable saddles, footwear, furniture, and other leather goods in the best condition possible.

Cleaning your leather:

Clean your leather after every use, inspect it for any damage and ensure it is wiped down and dry before conditioning.

When using Rein & Paddock RESTORE leather cleaner, it is important to note that our product is very concentrated (minimal water), so you simply need a very small amount dispensed on a damp sponge.  Wipe down and clean all areas of your tack - and we suggest ensuring you do a deep clean once a week (by taking apart your bridle, stirrup leathers, etc.).  We offer a Tack Cleaning Accessory Kit to make cleaning easy - one place to keep all those sponges!

Conditioning your leather:

Rein & Paddock REPLENISH leather conditioner will deeply condition, moisturize and provide a natural barrier to protect your leather against water damage, mold and mildew.  Our conditioner was specially formulated with Cera Bellina, which is an ester of Beeswax - making it softer for your leather, and increasing the absorption capability of the conditioner.  We recommend you condition your leather tack 2-3 times per month - this will depend on the condition of your leather, how often you use it and where you store it.  Always completely clean your leather BEFORE you condition it.

When to Oil your leather:

For most English Riders - you probably will only need to oil your tack when you first purchase it.  For those of you that have recently bought a new bridle, it is often very stiff - by cleaning it first, then oiling it, you will soften the leather and make it supple with just one to two applications of Rein & Paddock REVITALIZE leather oil.

The oil is great to use when your leather needs a deep conditioning (winter or after repeated use, long durations between conditioning).

For Western Saddle care - the oil is great for those western saddle billet, billet straps, latigo.  It is also great for any highly tooled areas on the saddle - allowing the oil to soak in will moisturize, condition the leather and will provide protection from moisture.

NEW SADDLE:  You can oil your new saddles with our Rein & Paddock REVITALIZE

Simply take a very soft brush or soft sponge, add the oil to it and apply all over your saddle - this may take 1-2 applications to soak into the new leather.
