How & Why to "Hot Cloth" your horse
🧼 What Is “Hot Cloth” Grooming?
“Hot clothing” is a tried-and-true method to clean, hydrate, and add shine to your horse’s coat without a full bath. It’s especially useful in:
❄️ Winter (when bathing is inconvenient)
✂️ After body clipping
🌟 Before shows
🐴 Anytime your horse's coat looks dull or dry
🔥 How to “Hot Cloth” with GLISTEN
✅ What You’ll Need:
-
A bucket of hot water (comfortable to your hand)
-
GLISTEN Spray
-
1–2 clean cloths (cotton or flannel works great)
-
Optional: a wool mitt or super soft cloth for final polish
💧 Step-by-Step:
-
Brush your horse to remove loose dirt or mud.
-
Spray GLISTEN directly onto the coat — one section at a time.
-
Soak a cloth in the hot water, then wring it out so it’s damp but not dripping.
-
Rub the coat firmly to lift dirt and hydrate the hair. Repeat if needed.
-
Smooth the coat in the direction of growth once the section is clean.
-
Rinse your cloth in a second bucket of clean hot water between sections.
-
Repeat until the whole horse is done.
-
Finish with a final spray of GLISTEN, and use a wool mitt or soft cloth to wipe down for maximum shine and conditioning.
💡 Why We Skip the Oil:
Traditional hot cloth methods add oil to the water — but oil and water don’t mix, and the oil ends up wasted.
Instead, GLISTEN is designed to condition naturally without creating greasy residue or buildup.
